Sermon Title: "The Lord Has Need of It"
Jesus gave specific instructions for his walk into Jerusalem – a colt, a young donkey, was to be untied and brought to him to ride into the city to shouts of the people: “Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord!” He would enter in humble triumph on the property of a man from a village. We cannot fully appreciate the triumphal entry until we see the importance of the small details that bring meaning to this walk. Jesus can only show his humility and willingness because there was a man who listened when he heard of the Lord’s need. Will we allow our lives and material possessions be a part of the coming triumph of God, too? How can our lives support the work of the Kingdom?

"Rocks Will Cry Out"
Today marks the remembrance of Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem that would ultimately lead to his execution. We see him riding on a humble colt, a foal of a donkey. We see the Jewish masses laying out their cloaks on the road and waving palm branches, as if to welcome a king. They sing Psalm 118’s words: “Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord!” To some of the religious folks, the ecstatic, joyful singing seemed foolish or even blasphemous, but Jesus knew that praising the God who sent him was destined to happen with our without humanity; God’s very creation would cry out in worship in our silence. The rocks may cry out, but hopefully it will be in harmony with us, and not because of our silence.
